Di Centa started skiing by following the example of the rest of his family in 1978... When he was 16 he became a member of the Italian junior team and in 1995 he made it into the senior team... he gave his World Cup debut already in 1993 in Santa Caterina (ITA) over 30km...his first World Cup podium came a couple of years later in 1997 in Hakuba (JPN) where he took second place over 15 km...the ski veteran skied in all seven FIS Nordic World Ski Championships since Trondheim 1997 and competed in four Olympics...in 2006 he celebrated his biggest success winning the Olympic 50 km and relay titles in his home country...finally, in 2010 he completed his CV with his first World Cup victory…in 2011 he took the 9th place over 50 km free technique in Oslo at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships and added as well a 10th spot in skiathlon…at the end of the season he finished 4th at the World Cup Final series.
