Already in an age of 7-years, Fessel started her career as a Cross-Country skier.. She competed at the FIS Nordic Junior World Championships four times from 2002 till 2003...in 2002 she stepped onto the first podium with finishing second in the final sprint heat...in 2003 her biggest success with the Junior World Champion title in sprint followed...Fessel made her World Cup debut in 2002 competing in the sprint in Düsseldorf. In 2005 her first World Championships was on the program in her home region in Oberstdorf/Allgäu...At the Olympic Games, Fessel just edged out of the Sprint finals by taking the 31st spot...In 2007, she made her first individual top ten place in the World Cup by finishing 9th in Rybinsk in sprint...in 2007 and 2009 she took 15th rank in sprint at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo and Liberec whilst in 2010 at the Olympics, Fessel made her best rank as 17th in sprint... last year was her best season so far...Fessel impressed with strong performances in sprint as well as in distance races.....Starting the season finishing 9th in Gällivare over 10 km and took the 4th place in the mini Tour at Ruka a week after...After the eigth place in Davos, the lady from the Allgäu region got sick and couldn’t take part in the Tour de Ski...Just before the World Championships Fessel came back into the World Cup circus and made excellent performances in Oslo at the seaosn highligh..three 7th places (team sprint, skiathlon and 30 km) as well as a 5th rank in the relay...she concluded the season in Falun as 17th in the overall World Cup ranking.
