Vylegzhanin showed up in the World Cup for the first time in 2005 for the Pre-Olympic competition in Pragelato where he landed his first top ten result with a 6th place in the team sprint...two months later he captured his first individual top spot placing sixth at the traditional 50km in Oslo...Vylegzhanin was continuously present in the World Cup circus from then on but his final breakthrough came in 2009 at the World Ski Championships in Liberec where he finished second over 50 km...in the 2009/10 season he clinched his first individual World Cup podium in Kuusamo whilst his first World Cup victory followed last season in La Clusaz with taking the victory over 30 km mass start…his biggest success so far, he reached by winning two silver medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 (skiathlon & 50 km mass start).
