We are very happy to welcome on board of our Cross-Country web page contributors a very special person, Bengt Erik Bengtson. Bengt Erik was a long time Race Director Cross-Country. His position within the International Ski Federation was Head of the Nordic Office and Race Director Cross-Country. In this position he worked at an executive level for preparations (summer and winter inspections) and performance of seven Olympic Winter Games, nine World Ski Championships and eighteen Junior World Ski Championships and about five hundred World Cup events. He had also inspected most of the candidates for Olympic Winter Games and World Ski Championships in order to make a report to the evaluation Committee.
During all these years there was an immense development of the Cross-Country sport. As a secretary of the FIS Cross-Country Committee and its Executive Board he initiated and followed the needs of modern Cross-Country skiing. Since Bengt Erik was an eyewitness af all big changes cross-country skiing has gone through in the past it is honor for us that he will share his knoweledge with us and cross-country fans.

At present Bengt Erik is still active in the FIS Cross-Country family. He is helping the Cross-Country developing nations.
Bengt's history corner will bring you stories you might not have known before. You will read how it was sometimes difficult to move our sport forward and how develpoment was done. Bengt Erik will also present famous cross-country skiers, legends if you wish, from the past. They deserve to be rememebered and admired as cross-country heroes of our times.
