For five days we ahve been in the Olympic village in Whistler. Accommodation is spacious and it is fascinating to share this relatively small space with athletes of all sorts of disciplines and all countries. Of course after three weeks we will feel kind of isolated from te outer world. We will have to go out and get to look around Whistler for a change. At this time all of us are concentrated on first races.
I must say I have felt great on last two fast training session. Tracks in Whistler are perfectly prepered. I admit that after Canmore I was confused about my performance and a little depressed as well. Now the world looks better again. I am confident I will able to show here the best what is in me. Just as I performed well in the Tour de Ski.
A little story from a few days ago.
Earlier this week, I left together with Fredrik and Dario the race track, to ski a few extra kilometers. When we wanted to go back to the competition venue, we were stopped by two soldiers on snowmobiles. They were heavily armed and had stopped two Norwegians before us. They were not willing to let us return to the competition venue, because they assumed we were dangerous "terrorist." A detailed interrogation followed and Fredrik tried to negotiate with them to let us free. Slowly it became quite uncomfortable and we began to freeze after about 15 minutes but still we were not allowed to move about. More athletes from Germany came and then finally we received wireless message, which let us us ". In this example, you can see what Olympics is about be because of the extremely high security ..
