Czech Cross-Country Skiing season to kick off already in September
On September 7th the event Sport Street Liberec will be opening the Czech skiing season, this time without snow yet. Czech Cross-Country skiing stars will meet at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 venue and downtown Liberec.
"We would like to invite Cross-Country Skiing fans for the high-class sport event. That are taking place coming winter and to present the best Czech skiers,“ sport director of the Czech Ski Association Čestmír Skrbek claimed.
At 10:00 the program kicks off with kids kick bikes and roller skiing competitions. Winners will show up in the evening downtown Liberec. From 17:00 the complete national Cross-Country and Nordic Combined teams ranging from juniors to A-teams will take part in the evening program. „Lukas Bauer cancelled his vacation because of the event,“ Skrbek pointed out.
The coming winter will be packed with world-class skiing events, FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships, FIS Cross-Country World Cup and FIS World Ski Flying Championships in Harrachov 2014.
The show will be featuring a battle between ski jumpers and 1st league volleyball players in high jump from fixed position. Successful Czech Olympians will be available for autographs. „I believe people will enjoy the day and will come to cheer on our skiers in the winter,“ Skrbek concluded.
