Last season was tough for Astrid Jacobsen. In June 2009 she fell off the bike and fractured jaw, elbow and back. It took her long time to recover and jump in the racing course.

Despite her injury she showed at the first World Cup in Beitostoelen (NOR). She took part in Tour de Ski 2009/10 finishing 22nd in the prologue, 12th in Prague sprint and 18th in Cortina-Toblach race. Jacobsen went to Winter Olympics and performed well. Jacobsen who is considered to be sprint specialist claimed seventh place in sprint race.  At the pre-World Championships in Oslo she took 24th place in 30km Mass Start and 19th in the sprint. After all the season was decent.

For Jacobsen the main goal is to succeed at the home World Championships in Oslo 2011. After two weeks of family vacation in Soegne she returned to training and racing at the Blink festival in Sandnes. Performance was not according to Jacobsen's wish also due to her illness from early June. "The illness I suffered in Sognefjell in June left it's mark and halted training process for some time" says Astrid Jacobsen and continues "at the mass start on Friday I fell off the field quickly and soon got a huge tough job to go alone. I lost steadily on the leading group." Despite Jacobsen did not finish the race on Friday she was pleased with her performance "for the first time I was really pushing hard  and was actually very pleased with the session. From the outside it looks not so good, but I have been much further down".

When was Jacobsen returning on rollerskis from the race she was in a group of other girls. "I was little unfocused in the middle of a conversation and I managed to stumble into a tram rail." It ended up with a fall on the pavement, couple of bruises and dislocated shoulder. "I know that the best way to get rod of the pain is get the arm back in place quickly. Fortunately, I managed it myself." says Jacobsen. Subsequent medical check up proved no severe damage an Jacobsen shoulder will be fully recovered in a few weeks. "Luckily I was on rollerski pretty much when I was on holiday in Southern Norway. So it fits nicely with a lot of running in a couple weeks!" concludes Astrid Jacobsen keeping her spirits high.
