Ivan Babikov captured victory in the first race of U.S. Nationals over 50 km Mass Start at Fort Kent in Main. Tad Elliot finished second with a time gap of 17.8 seconds. Lars Flora was edged by Babikov to third place by 30.5 sec.

Ladies race over 30 km Mass Start was dominated by Kikkan Randall who beat second Rebecca Dussault in a tight finish by only 1.3 sec. Holly Brooks took third place having lost on Randall not more than 1.9 sec.
