After two weeks of training in nearby Kiruna, the Swiss ski team travelled to Gallivare, Sweden last weekend - the site of the opening weekend of World Cup races.  The team participated in the FIS competition, which served as a test race for the coming World Cups November 24-25.

Coming off of last weekend’s win in the 15km test race in Gallivare, Swiss skiing star Dario Cologna stated on his blog that he is ready for the start of the World Cup season.  “Last Saturday I started a FIS race in Gallivare on the World Cup course.  I won the 15km skate race ahead of Russian Alexander Lekov and my teammate Curdin Perl.”

Following the race the team returned to Kiruna to rest and get ready to go for the start of the 2012/13 World Cup season.  The team travelled back today by bus to Gallivare where their new wax truck is parked ready to go.  “I feel ready and feel a great anticipation that it's finally starting!” commented Cologna.

The season will begin Saturday with 10/15km freestyle races, followed on Sunday by the team relay.
