2010 marks the 25th anniversary of the Swissalpine marathon. Such an anniversary ought to be celebrated with a party. A party for everyone - sportsmen and sportswomen, and visitors from all over the world.
More than 5.000 runners were on the start of 25th Swissalpine marathon in Davos. Swiss national XC team member, Olympic, overall World Cup and Tour de Ski champion Dario Cologna run 21km race and he won it in 01:20:48 having edged out to second spot Time Zeiler of Germany with 4 sec. His countryman Florian Reichert finished third more than 2 minutes behind Cologna.
Newly created Engadin Ski Marathon Team with Swiss skiers Seraina Mischol, Seraina Boner and Ursina Badilatti showed up in Davos too. The team is led by Guri Hetland former Norwegian national team skier and Semi-professional FIS TD. Seraina Boner achieved second place in 21.1 km race with total climb of 680 meters. Only Lea Vetsch was faster by 28 sec. Seraina Mischol did not make it for next season into the Swiss national squad and thus prepares with Engadin Ski Marathon team and showed decent shape in the 21 km competition. With time of 01:38:38 sec captured fourth place and in her category climbed one place to third. Third from the training group Ursina Badilatti finished seventh.Engadin Ski Marathon coach and sport manager Guri Hetland did not stand behind and took part in the World's biggest mountain ultra marathon. Total length of 78,5 km, total uphill and downhill +/-2260m tested both physical and mental skill of every participants. Hetland proved to have both and finished 13th in the overall ranking and 4th in her W35 class.
