On 7th March, the elite of the Cross-Country skiers will return to downtown Drammen for the famous city sprint. Last year, the races were held close to Drammen in the ski area Konnerud due to the fact that also a distance World Cup race was on the schedule.

This year, for the eighth time, the skiers’ will measure their strength on the famous 1 245 meter track, which encircles both the main square and the Bragernes church.

The classical sprint competition will surely be an interesting one. This race has always been dominated by the Norwegians in the men’s race – nearly all competitions were won by them, except in 2010 when Emil Joensson took the top spot. Will the Norwegians claim back the honors and win again in Drammen?

On the ladies side, the main question will be – who is stronger, Marit or Justyna? Marit Bjoergen won the city sprint in 2010, Justyna Kowalczyk has so far never been on the podium there.

As in previous years, thousands of spectators are expected to attend the races, ready to create a euphoric atmosphere. The day before the sprint race, a Mini World Cup will also be held for children four years old and older. About 2 000 children are expected to compete on the same track as their ski heroes will race the day after.
