Italian team has come here for many years. " The camp near Madonna di Campiglio took place in very beautiful place where we have a lot of friends too" says Pietro Piller Cottrer to fiscrosscountry.com

At the end of the camp squadra azzura took part in traditional golf tournament where David Hofer prevailed over Valerio Checchi. It marked an end of predominantly running camp. "Summer training is always the same with biking, running strength workouts and rollerski sessions".

Pizio new men's coach

Italian coaching staff has changed from last year. Marco Selle was replaced by Gianfranco Pizio. He ordered the team more running workouts. " We have been running with Gianfranco more than before" confirms Cottrer. He is known as the free technique specialist but hopes to improve his classic as well. He has increased the amount of training hours. "At the time being I have trained 300 hours. I hope this'd help my classic races this winter" explains Pietro Piller Cottrer.

Italian team is fairly big as there are twelve skiers. New coach Pizio will need some time to get familiar with the team. It is easier though for Cottrer: "For me it is easy as I have known Gianfranco for many years, actually since 1994 when he was my first senior coach."

Pietro Piller Cottrer heads now to Ramsau for the glacier training and in November he will start at first test races.
