Swedish sprint specialist Jesper Modin has sinus problems and has to undergo a surgery in Stockholm on Monday.
“It feels great to have an operation day and time, so that I can start training soon, "said Modin in Sundsvall to Dagbladet.
Jesper Modin was dogged by bad luck last season, despite seven finals in the World Cup he never made it to the podium in an individual race. Modin scored season best with fourth place at Royal City Sprint in Stockholm. He also claimed fifth place at the World Championships in Oslo. He was on the podium in Liberec in Classical Team Sprint.
Sinuses have caused difficulties to the tall Swede for a long time. After the surgery he should get rid off all the problems.
Looking forward to the camp in Torsby
“It will be very nice. I’m really looking forward to getting started training again and to be able to train at full speed. Before with my sinus problems it was not the case,” explained Moding in Dagbladet.
Recuperation after the medical help should not be very long and Modin will be allowed to train a few days after the surgery. “Originally we thought I would be operated here in Östersund. In that case I would be able to start training the day after. However, doctors discovered I needed a bigger surgery and I will have to rest for a week. The training camp of the Swedish squad in Torsby starts a week after midsummer, so I hope I will be there,” concluded Modin.
