After ten years in function, Jochen Behle has surprisingly decided to step down as Germany's head coach, the 51 year-old coach confirmed after "intensive" discussion with DSV.
"I have noticed that athletes did not take as before, the trust was no longer there. There are things that wear out," Behle said to SID. "In the recent years I always had the feeling to move things forward. I have not this feeling anymore," Behle explained.
Under the leadership of Jochen Behle German Cross-Country skiing went through the most successful period ever. René Sommerfeldt won the Overall World Cup title in 2004, Axel Teichmann in 2005 and Tobias Angerer in 2006 and 2007.
