Johan Olsson was superior in today's 15 km Free at the Swedish Cross-Country opening in Bruksvallarna. Olsson posted the time of the day at 31:17.3 as his compatriot Daniel Richardsson skied to the second place with a time of 31:28.4. Canada’s Ivan Babikov proved he is ready to join in the fun and fight his way back onto the international podium this year after winning the third place.
"It went well I think. I knew it would be difficult today. It was good to start early and to think about what the others were doing," Olsson said to TV4.
“That was a great start for sure,” said a confident Babikov, who was in eighth spot mid-way through the race. “I started out pretty slow on the first loop, but then went out on the second lap and got into a good tempo. I made up some time on the final loop and was really happy to finish third," Babikov claimed.
Charlotte Kalla was the strongest on the ladies' side and powered to victory in 10 km free. Kalla was absolutely superior as she edged out yesterday's winner Emma Wikén by 40 seconds. Ida Ingemarsdotter landed on third place.
