Aino-Kaisa Saarinen has been lucky with an unusual heat wave in Finland this summer. She has been able to do the most of her hard trainings in pleasant temperatures in July.
"When I traveled to Toblach (ITA) in mid July, it was just perfect weather for training. It was over 30 degrees Celsius back home in Hollola, while I was enjoying lovely, fresh summer weather, perfect for hard trainings", Saarinen says. Then she was 1,5 weeks at home before traveling again for her own training camp up north, to Rovaniemi. Then she was a couple of days home before heading to St. Moritz (SUI) where the Finnish team has been having a training camp since Monday. The training camp runs until Aug 27th. The place is a new camp venue in the team's program.
Also other than weather, her summer has been going well. She has been healthy and really enjoyed training. "It has felt fun and relaxed. Sometimes I think have I done enough, that relaxed and fun it has been. But, I have certainly done a decent amount of hours. Still, having relaxed mind, is an important thing which you can't force", Saarinen says.
