Marit Bjoergen NOR equaled Bjoern Daehlie's record of World Cup victories and she can get ahead of him in the statistics already next season.

The season 2010/11 was for Marit Bjoergen historic in many ways. She dominated almost every distance race she took part in, won four gold and one silver medal at the World Championships. Last weekend she triumphed at the World Cup Final in Falun and the count of World Cup victories stopped on Sunday at 46. The same number as the famous Bjoern Daehlie achieved during his whole career.

“It’s great to copy such an excellent skiers as Bjoern Daehlie,” said Marit Bjoergen who was also glad that the long season was over. “I’m not going to train a single meter in April. I will go for a vacation and go away,” said the Norwegian ace.

Chance that Marit Bjoergen gets ahead of Bjoern Daehlie in statistics is very high. There are no World Championships or Olympic Winter Games next season and Bjoergen sets herself new goal. She has not won Tour de Ski yet and the triumph in the multi-stage event is missing in her collection. Two previous years she did not take part at Tour de Ski for the sake of Olympic games and World Championships.
