Norwegian star Kristin Störmer Steiar has problems with injuries and missed the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona, where she had hoped to compete over 5000 meters.
Wounded Achilles prevented Steira from qualifying to the European Athletic Championships in Barcelona. But after she had put off plans for the World Athletics Championships it was discovered that the injury is more serious than that.
Kristin Störmer Steira suffers fatigue fracture in he heel and must crutch for two weeks. „After two rounds of cortisone injections which did not help and alternative training methods that did not help either, we came up with this diagnosis" writes Steira on her website.
„It is mildly depressing. There is little I can do about it but train with limited effort. I can carry out swimming, canoeing and strength training workouts. I can see light at the end of the tunnel as I can get better in some thinks I was weak. When the heel is healed I will train as normal, but it will take a little bit longer than expected" writes Steira.
Kristin Störmer Steir is a freestyle specialist who also produce great results in pursuit. She has been called " the eternally fourth " because she missed the podium several times at major events with a tiny margin. However, at the World Championships in Liberec in 2009 she captured silver, and she won the gold medal in the relay in Vancouver where she faught on the third leg for Norway's winning team.
She also has very good performance in athletics and belongs to Norwegian elite at longer.
