For the past week Petter Northug has been training and relaxing in the peaceful surroundings of the hills in northern Italy. Last Sunday, he and his friend Niklas Dyrhaug registered for a skiing event. It is the 42 km long La Sgambeda. National team coach Trond Nystad has confirmed this is the case.
The race is the first of nine races in the FIS maratoncup. Race goes from Livigno and collects a total of over a thousand runners. A number of Northug's usual competitors are overseas at the World Cup competitions in Quebec and Canmore.
