Contintal Cup competitions series within the Alps countries will start this weekend. It takes place in Italy, Germany, Austria, France and Slovenia. 9 competition weekends from December 12 - 13 till the finals in Rogla in March 12-14.
The first races of the series will kick off this weekend in Alta Badia, Italy. Alta Badia is to be found in the heart of the Dolomites, in the South of the Alps and in the North-East of South Tyrol. From December to February the average temperature is below 0°C with a minimum of -20°C at night. The temperature differences between day and night are significant. Although the area receives a lot of snow in winter, it can still count at about 100 days of sun between December and March. Alta Badia offers cross-country skiing fans 38 km of tracks prepared for skating and the classic technique. Immersed in the silent natural surroundings, you can enjoy the scenery of the wonderful Dolomites area.
First OPA race will be carried out in San Cassiano. It is situated in Saré/Armentarola, at 3 km distance from San Cassiano town centre, counts approximately 27 km of tracks. The 6 routes of different grades of difficulty: Sass Dlacia, Saré, Pre de Costa, Pinais, Störes and Conturines, are prepared for the classic discipline as well as for skating. They led you through an enchanting Dolomites landscape, at the foot of the Conturines; Lavarella and Settsass mountains. The cross-country area offers you a school-camp, marked in yellow on the map. 177 men and 96 ladies from 25 countries will start in Saturday and Sunday. OPA countries are accompanied by other nations. Ethiopian, Brazilian or Indian athletes will fight for good results as well.
