Pirjo Muranen hangs up Cross-Country boots after the season

Finnish top Cross-Country athlete Pirjo Muranen confirmed she would end her racing career this season.

Muranen spent more than 10 years at the top Cross-Country level and decided to retire.

She is going to take part in her last Finnish Nationals on upcoming weekend in Kuopio and will also race in Tour de Barents. “"I couldn't get forward in life if I had continued. I can't even remember when I had summer off - of course that was in childhood", she said.

Pirjo Muranen is Sprint Free World Champion from Lahti 2001 and double World Champion relay from Sapporo 2007 and Liberec 2009. She was also member of the bronze Finnish relay in Whistler.
