Finland's Riikka Sarasoja-Lilja and Paal Golberg of Norway were the quicksest in today's qualification of sprint free in Düsseldorf.
Windy and rainy weather welcomed this morning participants of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup in Düsseldorf. Over night organizers brought snow and prepared the 800m long track.
Rikka Sarasoja-Lilja won the qualification in 1:41.99 and edged out Natlia Matveeva of Russia by +0.52 sec. Another Finnish Mona Lisa Malvalehto claimed third place in the qualifying session.
On the men's side Paal Golberg claimed the victory in the qualification ahead of Swiss Eligius Tambornino and local hero Josef Wenzl. "I had a good training period in Norway and feel quite well,” said Josef Wenzl. “I’m not anymore training together with the Swiss sprinters around Tor Arne Hetland, the common project ended after last season," he explained.
