Squadra Azzura trains in Sappada

Italian men's Cross-Country team are the first week of August at a training camp in Sappada at the foot of Mount Peralba, home of champions such as Silvio Fauner and Pietro Piller Cottrer.

Under supervision of the head coach Silvio Fauner concentrate both distance and sprint specialist on rollerskiing, mountain biking, running, walking and strength training.
Olympic medalist Pietro Piller Cottrer who is at home here is accompanied by Giorgio Di Centa, Roland Clara, Giovanni Gullo, David Hofer, Thomas Moriggl, Dietmar Noeckler, Loris Frasnelli, Fabio Pasini, Renato Pasini and Fulvio Scola.

"Sappada stands for Cross-Country skiing paradise" says the mayor, Alberto Graz "Summer training camp of Squadra Azzura has become a tradition for us. We find there many promotion opportunities for our region. We are very happy that we can develop ties a discipline that has given us nine Olympic medals. " said Alberto Graz,

Sprint Championships on Wednesday

On the evening of Wednesday, August 4, 18 cross-country skiers of the Italian national team will compete in the fourth edition of the Sprint Championship. It is a festival on roller skiing, organized by AS Chamois, which takes place on a new finishing in Piazza Palu. The first three editions were won by Pietro Piller Cottrer (2007), Giorgio Di Centa (2008) and Fulvio Scola (2009).

Ladies' squad in Frassinoro

Unlike the men's team Italian ladies went to Frassinoro in the region of Modena. Ladies coach Alfred Stauder prepared one week dry training camp that will focus on volume. Arianna Follis is familiar with conditions in Frassinoro as she has lived on this region for some years.
