Stepanova and Petukhov Russian Sprint champions

Russian National Championships are currently held in Syktyvkar which is located in the Republic of Komi. Yesterday sprint champions were decided. First title was captured by Lilia Stepanova who won also qualification and dominated yesterday's program. Stepanova edged out second Julia Ivanova. Bronze medal went to Viktoria Melina.

On the men's side sprint specialists and Russian National Team members Petukhov and Kriukov dominated qualification. Alexey Petukhov copied winner of the ladies' race and after having won qualification he did not give a chance in the finals to anyone and claimed sprint title. Runner - up in the men's sprint was Andrey Parfenov who sent Andrej Geljmanov to third place. Second in the qualification Nikita Kriukov achieved disappointing 7th place. Another Russian World Cup skier Nikolay Morilov finished 8th.
