On the 12th of August SEB 6th Tartu Rulluisumaraton with 48 and 19 km distances was held. It was a historical year for the participants as 2012 was the first year when the course of the marathon started in Jõgeva and finished in Tartu instead of doing circles in and nearby Tartu.
Before the start the participants were hesitant about the new course and did not know what to expect from the new course, but at the finish line everybody were more than happy. “Down hills from Lähte were the most intimidating parts of the course according to the feedback we got from participants before start, but on the course it was clear that things are not so bad,” said the race director Kunnar Karu. “The marathon is special also due to the fact that SEB Tartu Rulluisumarathon is being held on a very varied course – it is one of the fewest marathons in the world that has so varied course profile,” added Karu.
In total there were 1531 participants of the events of Tartu inline skating marathon from whom 1075 finished the main distances. Children’s races hosted altogether 310 little inline skaters and official training brought along 98 participants. 2nd Tartu Inline Sprint hosted 48 contestants. In total representatives of 12 different countries participated in the events of the marathon.
Winning duo of SEB 6th Tartu Rulluisumarathon came from Poland - Chojnacki Bartosz and Baran Wojciech took the first and the second place, third place stayed at home – it was won by Vahur Valvas, man from Tartu. Best woman on the course for second year in a row was Anna Pletenetska from Ukraine. Best Estonian woman was Enel Kõrva who was fourth to cross the finish line.
Title of the best team was won by Albe Team/Bont, second place went to team Rullibaas and third to our neighbours from Latvia – Powerslide Latvia. Best company on the course was Extreme Sport, second was G4S Estonia and third came SEB.
