The representatives of the Organizing Committees of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup and the World Cup Technical Delegates gathered in Zürich for another edition of the joint autumn seminar. Almost 60 participants from thirteen countries joined the seminar. On Friday evening, the participants took part in a networking evening and on Saturday it was time for the presentations, updates and workshops.
The morning session was devoted to various presentations and speakers. The first part focused on communication of the competitions. Gernot Mussner from Val Gardena, Patrice Drouin from the company Gestev organizing the Quebec sprint and Sandro Pertile from Val di Fiemme provided detailed insights into the promotion of the World Cup competitions and new ideas for side events. Enthusiasm and creativity was the red thread through all presentations. Event Coordinator Sandra Spitz and FIS Cross-Country Race Director Pierre Mignerey informed the participants about what is new in the sport and event organization.
The afternoon dealt with rule changes for the forthcoming season and an update for the FIS Technical Delegates. Experienced FIS Technical Delegates Uros Ponikvar (SLO) and Karl-Heinz Lickert, who is also Chairman of the Sub-committee for Rules and Control, informed the TDs and Chiefs of Competition about the new ICR structure, updated rules and guidelines for jury work. Using video clips, various case studies and border line situations were discussed to make the jury work even more consistent.
