Toni Livers, Martin Jäger and Lukas Huser won Patrouille des Glaciers 2012, an international military alpine touring (randonée) competition, which covers 53 km from Zermatt over Tete Blanche, Arolla, Col de Rietmatten to Verbier.

"We started on foot in Zermatt and continued to Stafel. After 30 min we had to use the rope and started climbing up glacier to Tete Blanche. There was a strong wind on the highest point. At 04:42 we arrived in Arolla where we were stopped and the second stage of the Military Patrol was cancelled," Toni Livers wrote on his website.

Due to weather conditions the Patrouille des Glaciers 2012 was cancelled. Relatively high temperatures at night made the snow layer unstable. 417 teams started in Zermatt and standings were made after the first stage from Zermatt to Arolla.
