On Sunday, 3rd January, the Viessmann FIS Tour de Ski continues with a sprint in the classical technique. The qualification session starts at 14:15. Quarterfinals are scheduled at 15:50.
"It is still quite close. The top thirty men are within 37seconds and on the women's side there are 14 ladies within 1 min. The last year's Tour de Ski winners are all close together. It is a good sprint course tomorrow, it is quite long, we count with a running time of 3.30min for men and 4 min for ladies. The course is ideal for classical sprint, there is even an A-Climb included (which means more than 30 m difference in altitude)" comments FIS Race Director Cross-Country Jürg Capol
Tomorrow, the starting order of the qualification is according to the Tour ranking in reverse. Bonus seconds will be awarded tomorrow according to the rules (60 bonus seconds for the winner). It is the first time that a classical sprint is in the schedule of the Tour de Ski. Silvana Bucher (SUI) will stop racing in the Tour. 86 men and 72 ladies plan to start tomorrow.
