La Transjurassienne 2010

"Everything is fine" said Jean-Claude Dalloz, the president of Trans'Organisation, during his press conference this morning at the Conseil régional de Franche-Comté. The last two weeks snowfalls convinced even the most sceptical! La Transjurassienne will take place on its original track on this Saint-Valentine's week-end. All the volunteers and technical teams have been working hard to ensure the best possible snow conditions on sensitive areas... This 32nd edition should be wonderful!

Almost 4000 participants ready to go!

Among the 4000 anonymous and famous participants, Trans'Organisation notes the registration of Mrs Marie-Guite DUFAY (Bib n° 7239), the president of the Conseil régional de Franche Comté. She will start from Chapelle des Bois for the 25km CT event, on Saturday, February 13, at 1:00 pm.

On the elite side, the Italian National Team enters the 76km FT with Marco CATTANEO (Bib n°3), Sergio BONALDI (Bib n°5) and Bruno CARRARA (Bib n°13). To be noted also, Christophe PERILLAT (Bib n°2) from the French National Cross-Country Skiing Team, as well as the Czech Stanislav REZAC (Bib n°1) winner of the 50km CT event in 2009. Alexandre ROUSSELET (Bib n°1), who broke the record in less than 3 hours, will run the 50km CT on Saturday and the 76km FT on Sunday. Among the women, note the registration of Pia SUNDSTEDT (Bib n°5004), 3rd on the 54km FT. Susanne NYSTRÖM (Bib n°5001), 4th of the current FIS Marathon Cup ranking and Christelle JOUILLE (Bib n°5006) registered in the 54km FT event this week-end. Laurence ROCHAT (Bib n°7203), a member of the National Swiss Team, and selected for the Vancouver Olympic Games, will run the 25km.

Last minute information:
- Registration of Mathias FREDERIKSSON, 2nd in 2008 on the 50km
- Cancellation of Emilie VINA, 2nd in 2009 on the 54km

La Transju, the emblem of French nordic skiing worldwide...

26 different nations are represented this year on La Transjurassienne: Germany, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Byelorussia, Canada, Denmark, Czech Republic, Estonia, Spain, USA, Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, Slovakia and Sweden.
With the renewal of interest for the classic technique, the Saturday events are attracting many racers, especially from abroad.

At the Partners' Village in Morez: check your eyesight!

Eyesight tests will be organized by the frame manufacturers of the Jura department, in collaboration with the National Association for Eyesight Improvement (ASNAV) and the secondary school Victor-Bérard of Morez, for all the participants at the bibs pick-up place in Morez, Espace Lamartine. A good opportunity to check their vision before the "Transjurassienne" challenge!

A few words of caution to all:

On Saturday and on Sunday, the organization recommends participants to park their cars on the arrival sites, e.g. Chapelle des Bois for the 30km event, and Mouthe for the other races. Morning shuttles will take the participants to their starting sites which are usually very busy with vehicles.
The shuttles timetable is available on: www.transjurassienne.com

We advise participants to wear several layers of thermal gear, as well as a windbreaker outer shell to protect from the cold wind. And of course, always protect your eyes from the sun and the wind!
