Triple victory for Russia in Oroslavje

Sunday, June 17 was reserved for the sprint competition as part of the FIS Roller Skiing opening weekend in Oroslavje, Croatia. Temperatures just below 30°C made the conditions for competitors certainly not easy. The competition course was located downtown Oroslavje.

In senior ladies category Russian athletes carried on the winning momentum and celebrated triple victory. Anastasia Voronina edged out in the finals Elena Rodina, while Ksenia Konoha in the battle for third place sent Nina Broznič (CRO) to fourth place.

On the men's side Emanuele Sbabo (ITA) was the quickest of all in the finals ahead of Evgeny Abdurakhmanov (RUS). Third place went to Alessio Berlanda (ITA).

In junior ladies category, first place went to Lisa Bolzan (ITA). Russia's Margarita Tolochko (RUS) finished second and third place went to Anna Bolzan (ITA).

Photo finish decided winner of the junior men as victory went to Andrey Melikov (RUS). Italy's Emanuele Becchis (ITA) narrowly missed the first place and finished second. Third place went to Alexander Gavrilov (RUS).

The medal ceremonies concluded the FIS Roller Skiing World Cup opener in Croatia. The next World Cup race takes place in Markkleeberg (Germany) (6.-8.07.)
