Tim Tscharnke (SV Biberau), Josef Wenzl (SC Zwiesel) and Miriam Gössner did not make it into top 50 of the current overall World Cup standing and thus will take part in the national championships. Nicole Fessel alike Jens Filbrich and Claudia Nystad will miss the finals due to illness.

Last World Cup appearance for René Sommerfeldt

For cross-country veteran René Sommerfeldt the races in Sweden will be the last for him as an athlete. "As for now I do not feel any farewell sadness. I am looking forward to upcoming races in Sweden. I will probably feel differently on Sunday after my last race. I do not want to leave cross-country for good. I plan to compete at Popular races such as Vasaloppet. It is less stressful than World Cups. If I get an opportunity I would be happy to work as a coach. The DSV has already shown interest and there were already initial discussions" said Teichmann.

"Upcoming days will be tough for all teams, specially distance race on weekend in Stockholm. On the other hand we are approaching the end of winter and everybody want to perform the best for the last time. We also want that Rene will enjoy his last World Cup races" said Germany's national coach Jochen Behle.
