Kathrine Rolsted Harsem and Anders Svanebo won the opening day of the FIS Roller Skiing World Cup in Markkleeberg in Germany. Harsem of Norway won the ladies' competition over 4 km free in 7:52.6. Sweden's Marika Sundin clinched second place +2.6 sec behind the winner. Ksenia Konohova of Russia rounded out the podium in third place with a gap of +16.0 sec on the winner.
Anders Svanebo of Sweden was superior in the men's 8 km free in 14:05.0. Svanebo won the race with a clear gap on the runnerup Romain Claudon of France. The Frenchman stayed behind by +17.8 sec. Norway's Ragnar Andresen finished in third place +23.0 behind.
Markus Johansen Westgaaard (NOR) won the junior men competition ahead of Ivan Petrunin (RUS) and Anton Budylov (RUS). Julia Belger (GER) led the German squad for a triple victory as Theresa Luetzendorf took the runner up position and Anne Winkler claimed third place.
