Tartu Rattamaraton in Northern-Europe, in Estonia is the second largest mountain bike marathon in the world. The first time it was organized was in 1998 when people, who loved biking, took example from the famous Norwegian MTB-race Birkebeinerrittet. Last year Tartu Rattamaraton had more than 6,500 participants from 19 countries and organizers are expecting this number to increase even more.

The distances have grown from 63 and 31 (in 1998) to 89 and 40 kilometers (this year). Since 2002, Tartu Rattamaraton has belonged to the UCI calendar. In 2009 the European Champions (MTB Marathon UEC) were held on the 89 km course. Local riders took the first six places ahead of all the foreign stars.

There are 6 service points on 89 km track and 3 service points on 40 km track. The race courses run mainly on the gravel and forest trails. The diverse Southern Estonian landscape offers enjoyable tracks and suits all riders. Professional riders can find a tough competition from Tartu Rattamaraton and amateurs relaxing sights and friendly atmosphere.
