VENUE DESCRIPTION

The region is very famous thanks to its huge cross-country skiing area. There are 170 km of the skiing tracks in an attractive flat or slightly undulating landscape. Two big cities very close to the skiing area guarantee excellent traffic connection by car or by a bus service. The capital city Prague is only one hour of driving from the place.
The skiing tracks lead through the whole area of Jizera Mountains and offer stunning views, admirable trips around the mountain lakes with lots of places of refreshment on the way. There are more than twenty starting spots with parking places but still the most important starting point is Bedrichov. It is a village with lots of various accommodation possibilities, tourist information centre, shops, restaurants and services. The place is also well known for its down-hill skiing areas. The slopes might not be that long but great for beginners or children and it offers also evening down-hill skiing on the illuminate slopes.
Summer time in the area means perfect conditions for biking and hiking tourists. There are hundreds kilometers of attractive trips and walks for more advanced ones and also for beginners. Except of cycling and hiking the area offers all kind of other activities like horse driving, canoeing, swimming, tennis and squash, paragliding and much more. You can easily sing up for adrenalin, calm or family holidays and you will be always satisfied.

COMPETITION INFORMATION

Patria Direct Jizerska 50 is the most famous race of the area but also of the whole winter season in the Czech Republic. It takes its place on the second Sunday in January. Before that date there is another cross-country skiing race: the Jizera Night Light Marathon starting in the evening when participants use head lamps. The date of the night race is the 30th December and it was organized for the first time in 2008. Bedrichov - the tourist centre village offers more than skiing races. The festival of Bedrich coming in March is famous thanks to the down-hill skiing carnival, both for children and for adults during the day, fire exhibition and fire works later in the evening. For the rest of the year the village offers other sport or culture events like sport or funny races, summer festivals and concerts.

The best way how to book accommodation in the area is to contact the race office in Liberec or information centre in Bedrichov. You can find all kinds of accommodation there like pensions, apartments, tourist hotels and also hotels with the high quality service.

HOW TO GET TO JIZERSKA 50

At the Prague Airport you can take a taxi or a bus to Prague and from there a bus or a train to Liberec. Trains are however slow: the fastest connection takes almost 3 hours. You find all train/bus timetables on www.idos.cz. Hereafter is the description of the best way to travel from Prague Airport to Liberec:

"Take bus No. 100 just in front of the airport building on the right side. You can buy the ticket in the airport building, the booth Transport Information: Metro, Tram, Bus is close to the exits from the building on the right side as you leave the customs area. Or you can buy it in a vending machine on the bus departure platform. It is necessary to stamp the ticket in the obliteration device in the bus. The ticket is valid one hour after stamping for any kind of Prague public transportation. At the terminal station Zlicin take metro line B to the terminal station Cerny Most. From Cerny Most, platform 7 or 8, a direct bus to Liberec leaves almost every hour. You can find the timetables on www.idos.cz , English and German versions available. Travel time to Liberec is about 70 min. The Liberec bus station is about 800 m from the city center where most of the hotels and the race office are. If you wish to return to Prague on Sunday, I recommend that on your arrival in Liberec you buy a seat reservation ticket at the bus station."
