VENUE DESCRIPTION

Prague (180 - 400m above the sea level) - situated in the centre of Europe - is one of the largest cities on the continent. The city has a population of about 1.21 million and is the cultural, political and economical centre of the Czech Republic. The so-called ‘golden town' lures with its cityscape characterized by gothic and baroque influences. Prague, where nearly nothing was destroyed during the Second World War, counts today among the most popular tourist attractions in Europe. Since 1992, the old town of Prague is a part of the UNESCO cultural world heritage. The most famous historical buildings are the Prague Castle with the ‘St. Vitus Cathedral', the ‘Charles Bridge' and the old town ring. The competition site is situated on a highest hill overlooking the old city and is providing panoramic views of all Prague. Thanks to its great position is not far from the Airport and the city centre and is easily available by public transportation for large amounts of crowds. The background of the stadium serves as offices of many sport associations.
